Muslim Professionals Community Guidelines

Effective: 13th July 2025

Our Mission

We want to build a brotherhood of Muslim professionals who believe in the Last Day and strive to balance both Deen and Dunya. This community is a place to share ideas and experiences, resources, help each other grow in our careers and businesses, and use our skills and knowledge to benefit the Muslim Ummah.

Our goal is to assemble Muslim professionals who are not only excellent at what they do, but also have strong character and integrity.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your "if" opens the (gate) for the Satan.
— Sahih Muslim 2664

Social Guidelines

These lightweight guidelines help create a supportive, productive, and respectful learning environment:

1. No Feigning Surprise

Don't act surprised when people say they don't know something. This applies to both technical ("You don't know what recursion is?") and non-technical things.

2. No Well-Actually's

Avoid making minor corrections that don't meaningfully contribute to the conversation, especially when prefaced with "well, actually..."

3. No Back-seat Driving

Don't give unsolicited advice or interfere when someone is working through a problem with someone else.

4. No Subtle -isms

Avoid subtle forms of bias, including comments that stereotype or marginalize groups of people.
